Pregnancy acupuncture in Barnet
In 1998 I helped support my first patient with Traditional Acupuncture to successfully conceive despite her previous difficulties. I then continued to support her with Acupuncture through her pregnancy, with her induction and finally in hospital with the delivery of a fine healthy baby.
This event inspired my future practice. It continues to be a privilege assisting couples achieve their goals of having a family.
Nowadays I focus more on offering treatment for women and men, individually or as couples, particularly assisting in cases of “unexplained infertility”, recurrent miscarriages and support during IVF (ICSI) cycles, pre and post embryo transfer and post natal treatment.
On a personal note – In 2006 I felt honoured in being able to use this expertise when I assisted in the delivery of my own son. I felt enormous pride that through my practice and speciality I was able to contribute bringing him into the world.

Fertility
Chinese medicine has a long and rich tradition in supporting women with their health concerns. With classical texts dating back over 2000 years, it has included treatments and protocols aimed specifically at improving fertility, pregnancy conditions, preparation for labour and providing support post natal in restoring a mother’s energetic reserve.
Here in the UK Traditional Acupuncture is becoming more widely recognised for its effectiveness by Western medicine and in particular in the field of fertility. Increasingly fertility clinics are recommending acupuncture to assist their treatment with Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART), in particular IVF or ICSI pre or post embryo transfer.
The increasing number of women enquiring about the potential benefits of acupuncture treatment during pregnancy is in part due to the reporting of increasing numbers of high profile celebrities endorsing acupuncture during pregnancy. It also reflects a general trend away from using over the counter medication during pregnancy. Women are looking for remedies that have at their root a more natural approach.
Traditional Acupuncture approaches the patient’s health from a different perspective and mind-set. Starting with a detailed initial consultation we examine a patient’s medical history, menstrual cycle and current health concerns. This enables us to identify potential factors and when required offer suggestions including diet and lifestyle as well as offering a stress relieving treatment
A formal diagnosis is not always required to begin treatment as I will assess a patients medical history, mental and physical state of health and general well being, so whilst there is no need to wait for formal tests to begin your treatment, we would always advise letting your medical practitioner know you are commencing treatment.

Specialisms:
Fertility and pregnancy issues
Anxiety and depression
Many people experience anxiety or depression through our lives, so emotional and energetic support can be invaluable in helping us weather these times.
Treatment is individually tailored for each patient’s specific needs so looks to rebalance each person’s own internal dynamics. Over time this helps support patients as they make steps towards a healthier position.
Cancer care
Over the years, I have supported many patients living with cancer. Traditional acupuncture can offer relief with symptoms associated with conventional treatment such as nausea, digestion and bowel function. I am told that my treatments often provide emotional support during chemotherapy.
Pregnancy & Pre Birth Treatments
Acupuncture and Breech presentation
The turning of breech babies during pregnancy is a successful and natural method to avoid unwanted medical intervention. Week 34 is considered the optimal time but even with a later diagnosis some women have experienced a successful outcome using Moxa and or acupuncture treatment.
Moxibustion involves smouldering a fragrant herb (Moxa) in the form of a stick, passed over an acupuncture point on each foot, which encourages the baby to turn.
It is an extremely safe and relaxing treatment and where appropriate can be taught to you as a technique to be administered at home.
Acupuncture as a routine pre-birth treatment and labour
During the final weeks of your pregnancy we offer specialist weekly treatments- from week 36- in order to prepare both the mother and baby for the natural process of labour. These are available to any patient, new or existing.
Obviously there are many medical considerations at this point, to ensure the safety and well being of both the mother and baby. Any treatments we administer at this and any other time are designed to compliment this treatment.
Whether you have a specific condition or symptom, need more long term constitutional care, come simply as a last resort or want to get into your optimum shape, I am able to offer safe, professional and caring treatment, improving your health and your potential baby.
I am a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council, the largest body of Traditional Acupuncturists in the UK (www.acupuncture.org).
(Please note- all Acupuncture treatments are reliant on an individual diagnosis. We endeavour to work with your conventional Maternity team and any treatments may require confirmation with them. We would always ask you advise your team that you are requesting acupuncture and bring any relevant information to the attention of your practitioner)

“I was recommended by a friend to go and see Zadi, after suffering two previous miscarriages. So when I fell pregnant for a third time I immediately booked myself in to see Zadi in the hope that I could go full term with my third pregnancy.
Zadi explained he would initially do some treatments to shore up my general constitution and we would take things from there. The treatments left me feeling energised and I felt both physically and mentally well. The actual treatments were pain free which was an unexpected surprise and as time wore on Zadi introduced more specific treatments for minor problems like lower back pain. In addition each trimester Zadi gave me a calm baby treatment, which I swear is the reason our daughter Nell, was such a great baby and a good sleeper.
I would recommend Zadi to not only pregnant women but to anyone who is looking for an alternative to conventional medicine. Whatever ailment brings you to him his manner and empathy are wonderful…. Before the birth I was overdue and about to be induced. Zadi gave me one last treatment on a home visit to help bring natural labour on. Just over an hour after he left I went into labour. As you can see I have plenty of reasons to wholeheartedly recommend Zadi as a practitioner … and this is why I went back to him for treatments after Nell was born and again when I was pregnant with my second daughter Sophia.”

“Hi Zadi I just wanted to say hi. And let you know that I gave birth to Jack – weighing 8lbs 3oz on Friday 20th May at 4.05am. I wasn’t induced until 12.30 so it was quite quick and was nowhere near as bad as I was imagining.
Thank you so much for all your help- I really felt my body was completely prepared for the labour and the birth and it was not as hard as the first time!
Thank you for everything. Lucy”

“I first visited Zadi for Acupuncture back in October 2008. At that time I had been suffering from tension headaches for a number of years and I would also clench my jaw in my sleep which added to the pain from the headaches. I was also feeling anxious a lot of the time as I was going through a stressful time trying to move and my father also had a number of serious health problems and my parents were the main carers for my daughter while I worked and I had a stressful job. I also suffered some symptoms of PMT and I wanted to have another child before there was too much of an age gap between the new baby and my daughter but could no longer cope with the headaches.
After visiting Zadi for the first time I immediately felt more at ease with my self and more relaxed. My family and close friends also noticed a difference in me. I had regular treatments and my tension headaches totally disappeared and after visiting Zadi a few times I fell pregnant.
I had Acupuncture all through my pregnancy. I suffered from morning sickness and the Acupuncture definitely helped to reduce the sickness. I had a difficult delivery with my first child and was anxious about this delivery. I had some Acupuncture treatment to induce my labour just after my due date and went into labour a few days after. I had a straight forward uncomplicated and relatively quick delivery and I feel that the Acupuncture definitely attributed to that.
Overall I would recommend Acupuncture as when I have regular treatments it makes a huge difference to my well being.”
